Here is something more modern, but still very beautiful. The vintage Seiko 7T92-0HE0 quartz chronograph you see here is a real eye-catcher: The deep blue 3D dials with raised limits for the 1/20 second and hour chronograph counters are something we stare at again and again.

The applied indexes made of stainless steel contrast perfectly with the light blue dial background and play with the light like the minute and hour hands. The Lume is amazingly strong (Seiko is known for his LumiBrite) and will last a long time when exposed to natural sunlight.

The bracelet is made of stainless steel, it has of course been used several times, but it is still intact, and more importantly, it fits larger wrists, as all links are present. It’s a bit stretched, but still feels good. The incredibly reliable 7T92 quartz movement is capable of measuring up to 12 hours in 1/20 second increments, and of course has an intermediate time measurement.

Everything works as it should on this vintage Seiko 7T92-0HE0 quartz chronograph (it’s after all a Seiko quartz movement!). This is a sturdy stainless steel watch, so expect it to be on the heavy side, but once you have it on your wrist, you’ll get used to it almost instantly. The 42mm (without crown) case is quite large, but the bracelet embraces your wrist so well that you won’t even notice it. The watch has been serviced as usual by replacing all seals and using original Seiko grease on the case back, pushers and stem seals to prevent water ingress, but as always we do not recommend diving with this watch before performing a proper water resistance test by a professional.

The operation of the pushers is now very soft and feels good. The glass has been replaced by a new compatible mineral glass. The numbers on the tachymeter bezel have also been repainted.

What we like about this watch:

The blue 3D dial is amazing to see and the yellow chronograph seconds hand contrasts perfectly with it, allowing for event timing even in dim lighting. Oh, it has a LumiBright arrowhead, so it is visible even in total darkness….. The watch is heavy, but surprisingly comfortable, it wraps around the wrist in a very safe way. The movement is able to measure events up to 12 hours. What else are you looking for?

What we don’t like about this watch:

Even though it is still robust and extremely secure, the bracelet is somewhat stretched, especially at the connections to the case. It’s also scratched all around, a sign that it’s been used a lot. The stainless steel bracelet is neither polished nor buffed: It’s up to you to decide whether or not to rework it. Slight scratches and dents are there, but they tell the story of this beautiful watch.
