They say a watch should be round. They say a watch should be big. They say a watch should be digital. They say….. they do not know what they are talking about! This Vintage Certina model 4106-054 men’s wristwatch from 1960 with caliber 23-36 is the apotheosis of vintage classy wristwatches from more than 70 years ago!

Let the square form of the case captivate your eyes: the perfect symmetry of the dial is amazing, even with the Certina logo at 12. Straight angles, perfect size and nice unworn gold plating with a stainless steel back will make you love this time piece as soon as you put it on your wrist. What’s more, we installed a brand new, real leather Hirsch strap in vintage look that will even more complement the aesthetic of the watch.

Freshly serviced, it runs beautifully with a +/- 5 seconds per day rate, no beat error and 280° amplitude: we are still talking of a watch from the 1960s here….

What we like about this watch:

It is a classy watch, no doubt about it. It is more than 60 years old and still looks fresh. It is gold plated. The symmetry of the dial is just marvellous. It is accurate almost if not more than a modern watch. The new Hirsch strap is incredibly comfortable. Need we say more?

What we don’t like about this watch:

You may not like the square case, and we would forgive you for this.  The small dimension, 28mm side to side without crown, may seem way too small. The dial does have some patina and is telling its age, but not that much. That’s basically it. Nothing more. What were you expecting?
