Vintage Seiko 7T32-7C20 Blue Dial Quartz Chronograph
Here you have it: another grail watch from Seiko. The Vintage Seiko 7T32-7C20 Blue Dial Quartz Chronograph that you see here is a highly coveted, sought after model of the 7T32 family of vintage quartz watches that Seiko manufactured in the eighties. This is a watch that has been on my radar for years, and when I finally acquired it (actually this is the second, and the one in best shape) I thought to myself: you did it!
How else can I explain the happiness in scoring this fantastic Vintage Seiko 7T32-7C20 Blue Dial Quartz Chronograph, other than saying, well, it’s fantastic? I guess I cannot. I have been asked many times to sell it, I have received offers I would have been a fool not to accept, but the story goes I was a fool, and I did not accept them. Now it is the time to let it go, though. Let it find a new home, someone who can appreciate it like me, or more.
What we like about this watch:
It goes without saying: the incredible blue dial is the show stopper, here. The sun burst design is just beautiful, giving it incresible definition from any angle you look at it. But not only that: the dial is complemented by a beautiful mono-directional rotating bezel with black background and silver numerals, a hefty stainless steel case and bracelet, both in very good, but still “worn” condition, and white sub-dial hands that pop out from the dial like a full moon on a cloudless night. The Lume on the hour and minute hands as well as on the hour markers is still strong and it will stay bright for a ling time after a short exposure to sunlight. The pushers are soft to press and give the nicest feedback you have ever experienced, and the 2 crowns, characteristic of the 7Txx series of quartz chronographs from Seiko of this era, are very well protected by the sturdy case.
This is not a light watch: the stainless steel and case do demand some care while handling this chronograph, but once on the wrist, you will get used to its weight very soon and then you can appreciate the build quality and precision of the bracelet and clasp.
What we don’t like about this watch:
Well, there is not much to say, honestly. The watch has been used, so you wil see some scratches, mainly on the clasp (desk diving anyone?) and on the bracelet. Luckily the case has so little marks that it could pass a quality inspection as a brand new case. The rotating bezel has got some dimples, and a very thin scratch at 6 o’clock (near the 30 minute mark) but apart from that, it is almost perfect. The glass has also some scratches, very thin and almost unnoticeable. If the buyer asks, I can replace this prior shipping at a very low cost. Last but not least, the alarm function works, but the sound is too low, due to the old piezo electric buzzer on the inside of the case back. I did not replace it to preserve the originality. Besides, you got your trusty mobile phone to wake you up, don’t you?
Finally, we would like to say:
This Vintage Seiko 7T32-7C20 Blue Dial Quartz Chronograph is the watch you want to buy, period. If you are looking to get a daily wearer, a sturdy but comfortable wrist watch, a reliable chronograph and above all a stunning piece of vintage Seiko history, this is the watch you need to buy, right now. You will regret it if you let this one pass. Believe me, I have been there, and had to look for it for years.
