Vintage Seiko 7T32-7G40 Quartz Chronograph

Another Seiko 7T32 based quartz chronograph, this time it is the Vintage Seiko 7T32-7G40 Quartz Chronograph. I guess I love these quartz chronographs a bit too much… Yet, this one also has got to go, unfortunately.

This is the more elegant version of the other Seiko 7T32-7D90 we have on sale, with a deep blue dial and silver subdials, white hands for good readability and a stainless steel bracelet to top it off. The hour markers are huge lume dots, making it almost impossible to hide it in a dark room…

What we like about this watch:

This is a very classy watch, with extremely good readability and a nice weight to it, being also very comfortable to wear. The lume dots are a plus, making it easy to read at night, and the movement works flawlessly, as it should. All functions are given and work perfectly well, since the watch was recently serviced (as per all the watches on our shop, to be honest). The big crown offers a good grip, for the rare case you will need to use it (this is a quartz chronograph, no need to wind it!) and the pushers feel nice to the touch, offering a good feedback.

What we don’t like about this watch:

All shiny as it is, I suspect it was polished in the past. The bracelet is too shiny if compared to the rest of the case, but at least who did polish it, did a fine job. I could restore the fine brushing on the case, bracelet and especially the clasp, but apart from it being a lot of work, I really think the polish is not that bad (apart from the clasp, that is).

Finally, we would like to say:

Here we have kind of an underdog, working with the tried and tested 7T32 quartz chronograph movement, recently serviced by us, in good condition. This Vintage Seiko 7T32-7G40 Quartz Chronograph was polished sometime in the past, and the original brushing on the case, bracelet and clasp is only a faint remembrance of what it once was, but still it looks good enough to be used on a daily basis without any shame. The big lume dots are the perfect hour markers when you scramble in the dark and the brightness lasts really long.
